all I have to do is be close for him to fall asleep (providing he is already fed and comfortable)
So this is the SIO method - smile as you watch your little one one relax. Then they will smile as they drift into sleep peacefully, trusting their mama will be there if they need them.

You are blessed. I tried that with both my kids. It worked with Buddy but not with Pink. Her personality is really different that his though. She HATED co-sleeping. From two weeks on she wanted to sleep in her own bed. She would also get overstimulated if I held her for too long. That never happened with Buddy. I could hold him for hours. In fact he is just now getting to where he doesn't want to be held as much UNLESS we are in a new environment. Its interesting how different every child is:)
I totally agree- Joey can be sensory defensive and also get over stimulated easy! Lincoln likes having me close by, but to be honest sleeps better if he isnt right next to me. It's hard for me, but he likes it better if we co-sleep on opposite sides of the bed. He loves my bed more when I'm not in it LOL but thats because my bed is more comfy I think! And, like I said, he likes my company but likes his space sometimes too. Emma was very clingy, and Joey liked to be left alone - I guess Lincoln is in the middle!
That's so sweet.
